Obituary and downtime note
Jun. 25th, 2006 02:13 pmMy trusted wardrobe server Terpsichore won't play along any longer. She hung during last night, and refused to boot, or even acknowledge it's own existence - trouble even before POST to be slightly more technical about it. I am unable to troubleshoot from Germany, and all inhabitants of the relevant apartment are just shooting off to a weeklong LARP.
The collateral damage includes, among other things, the websites mikael.johanssons.org, blog.mikael.johanssons.org, ahlvik.se, p19.se, vejdemo.se and the blog "A mathematician's scratchpad". I'm working on some sort of fix - probably including but not limited to alternative house server models. Colocation and acquisition of a new (and warrantycovered) server is a definite option. Either way, nothing whatsoever will happen for at least a week.
Hopefully, the HDD survived, so that we'll be able to salvage databases, config files and websites from the wreckage.
