Hitting the national capital!
Jan. 5th, 2009 10:41 amI arrived yesterday late afternoon in Washington DC, and got picked up, almost immediately, by
silmaril, Breno and Adrian - who booked a table at the Cheesecake Factory by Friendship Heights. We gathered, ate amazing food - and lots of it - hit Borders and then descended on a poor unsuspecting pub for lots of alcohol, card games and physics from a homologic-algebraic viewpoint. Much fun all around - though alas I forgot to take a photo of the state our tablecloth was in when we left: it had, among other things, the generalized Stokes theorem, explanations of the Maxwell equations in their differential form format and a sketch of a proof of the non-equivalence of the unknot and the trefoil.
It turns out I get slightly tipsy when drinking weird cocktails after about 24h of sleep deprivation.
Oh, and
thette?
silmaril let me eat her popped cherry. :-P
Now I'm hooking up with mathbloggers (hey DrMathochist) and collaborators (hey Ron!) at the JMM and listening to a lot of cool and interesting talks. It's amazing how many people I seem to recognizewhen drifting through here.
