Haven't Sony done enough damage yet?
Nov. 7th, 2005 11:09 amThe r00tkit from Sony installing DRM systems upon playing their music CDs has wider ramifications. Apparently, it can be used to hide World of Warcraft cheats (article, alas, in German. Babelfish will be of service) - since the r00tkit hides everything carrying a specific prefix ($sys$ if I remember the articles correctly), all a WoW-cheater has to do is to install her l33t ch33ts with the executable named with a prefix of $sys$ to avoid triggering the Blizzard ch33t-scanner software (with dubious morality in itself - but that really is another issue for another day!)
