Your local newsworthy item
Apr. 15th, 2008 11:00 pmWeekend report - as well as trip report - both need to get written. No time right now though.
However, I will make time to mention a few small Items Of Cool.
All in all - many cooooooool things happening. Many of them very positive.
I also, today, saw a copy of "Die Botschaft" - A weekly newspaper serving Old Order Amish Communities everywhere. It's a fascinating read, mainly functioning as a paper-based version of the weekly gossip phone calls rather than a "classical" newspaper. Iiiiiinteresting.
However, I will make time to mention a few small Items Of Cool.
- Today, I was interviewed by the Lancaster Intelligencer Post, and by the Millersville University Exchange. My visiting the University appears to be newsworthy.
- Furthermore, I also was informed that apparently it's getting too late in the season to at all manage to organize an H1-B in time for me to start teaching by the start of the autumn term. So that's basically it for my teaching job search. I still have 2-3 research-focused opportunities open; but basically all the Visiting Assistant Professor applications will suffer from the H1-B lag problem.
- Finally, theorems are being proved and good times are had. And I did get to play the Evil Evaluator at a talk rehearsal for B.Sc. thesis defense talks. Picking the talks to pieces and pointing at all points I could imagine them improving.
All in all - many cooooooool things happening. Many of them very positive.
