WHAM-tastic
Aug. 5th, 2004 09:06 pmWork all day. I actually got quite a few things written. And a few interesting computing runs started. And was told why Golodicity relates my denominator polynomials to the more topological variety of Betti numbers. At least in some cases.
The following has a soundtrack. Various insane songs with Bobby McFerrin. The "Don't Worry, be Happy"-guy. He does WONDERFUL saxophone duets =)
Got home late. Got to IKEA even later -- in fact, when I started returning the rice boiler we bought too expensively (we're buying a cheaper, better one at Siba - but they closed at 19, I got there at 19.40) I had just discovered that IKEA would stay open for another 20 minutes - not 80 as I had planned on. Doh.
I return the boiler. I get the refund papers to hand to the cashier. Surprisingly easy. And so I head for the cashier. Halfway there, I notice the line and think that just maybe, I should go stand at the end of it, and not head for the start of it. So I turn around and WHAM! Evil invisible glass wall guerilla attack!
I think most of you have seen those video clips. Silly people walking into stuff and hurting themselves to the great mirth of the audience. That's me. The rest of the (rather large) shop just silenced completely -- everybody watching me as I staggered back and checked whether my eye had stayed within its socket. A nice security guard came up and checked that I wouldn't move to USA and drag them in front of some civil court or other.
I actually made it through IKEA before they closed. I now have four more packing boxes. Susanne talked me out of about SEK 100 of impulse buys in the cashier line at IKEA. Over the cell phone.
I may be slightly manic. Just a possibility.
