Seriously!

I wanted to figure out where I need to go to get my Social Security Number tomorrow morning. So I go onto ssa.gov and use their office locator.

And it's closed for the night.

A webpage search tool.

What moron included in the spec of that webpage that it should lose its usability at 1am est? And WHY??

The web page... closed for the night? Wow, that's a brilliant idea! They'll save so much money that way and won't have to pay anyone to sit there and type the answers back all night.

Och detta är i landet där de flesta stora fysiska affärer är öppna dygnet runt, som absurditetskontrast... :)

Actually, there might be a rational reason for that. Some database maintenance / backup might be safer (or in some cases only possible) to do while the application is offline. Of course, while this might motivate an hour or possibly two of downtime each night, it is no reason to close down for several hours, and 1am seems unnecessarily early. But then, USA is a country of many time zones ...
