I start out with frying chopped onions with garlic, some chili, coriander/cilantro, black and white pepper, powdered paprika, cinnamon and cocoa.

Ingredients

Then I add bacon, fry it crisp, and add minced meat. Fry until nicely coloured, then add baked beans.

Just add meat

Let it simmer until rather thick, then taste.

Frying it up

Turns out it was slightly too hot for our taste, so I added a generous swat of crème fraîche. To mellow out the taste.

Adding mellowing agent

A pair of bell peppers. Remove stems, membrane and seeds.
Bell peppers

Fill them up with the chili.

Filled peppers

Sprinkle grated cheese on top.

Cheesed

And bake until pleasantly coloured. They ended up being VERY yummy indeed, and definitely something I'd recommend.

The end result

Just curious -- are the baked beans you used in a sweet or savory sauce? Over here, if it's labelled "baked beans" it usually comes in a sweet barbeque or brown sugar sauce and are often seasoned with pork (as opposed to British baked beans, which taste like ketchup to me). The spicy, savory kind come labelled as "chili beans", though I usually buy just plain kidney beans with no sauce for my own chili.

Sorry for the questions. I'm sort of a foodie, especially when it comes to regional or national differences. :)
