Old sins coming back to bite you

I was standing at the company's christmas party today talking to one of the guys in IT. We were gliding into our student histories, and I mentioned I had studied latin and linguistics as minors. Upon hearing this, he immediately started telling me about "this really cool application that got included into a linux distro - doing things translated to latin". He was somewhat astonished when I told him that I actually was the author of the application in question.

And I, in turn, was quite astonished that there are people out there who find that particular hack cool enough to actually want to tell me about it, in case I hadn't heard about it yet.
